A graduate computer applications
program built for 2026.

A two-year postgraduate program with 20 core courses, 5 specialization tracks, and 4 professional electives per student. The core layers full-stack, AI/ML, GenAI, agentic AI, MLOps, cloud-native, cybersecurity, and Web3 as mandatory ground for every graduate. Specialization adds depth.

01 / Design

Three principles
that shape every credit.

A graduate computer applications program targeting 2026 hiring. The structure is engineered backward from where MCA students will be placed: full-stack engineers who ship AI-native applications, agentic AI builders, cloud-native platform developers, and security-aware product engineers.

01
Full-stack × GenAI is the new baseline.

Every MCA graduate ships AI-native applications. The core layers Python, FastAPI/Flask/Django + React, PostgreSQL/MongoDB into Full Stack I & II, then folds GenAI APIs and Agentic AI directly into full-stack contexts via dedicated platform-engineering courses. There is no GenAI stream — it is the floor.

02
Specialization adds depth, never repeats core.

The core covers AI/ML, DL/LLM/RAG, GenAI Platform, Agentic AI + MCP, MLOps, Cloud DevOps, Offensive/Defensive Security, DevSecOps, Blockchain, and Web3 for every student. The 5 PE tracks go deeper or lateral — never replicate. Conversational AI, SRE, Threat Hunting, DeFi, Causal Analytics: depth, not redundancy.

03
PBL and Regular share one catalog, two calendars.

The same 27 academic items run in both modes. PBL collapses them into 6 trimesters of 4 courses (with T5/T6 expanded to 5 incl. Capstone); Regular spreads them across 4 semesters of 6–7 courses. Identical credits, identical outcomes, identical prerequisite chain. Only the calendar shape differs.

Core is the floor for every graduate. Specialization is the ceiling, chosen by the student. Both deepen with the same prerequisite spine.
02 / Catalog

The 20 core courses
every MCA graduate takes.

Eight curricular domains. Every course carries two LTPS specs — one for PBL trimesters (32–36 CH/wk), one for Regular semesters (32–36 CH/wk). Same content, same credits; weekly intensity differs because trimesters compress 12 weeks where semesters spread 16. Cards are colour-coded by domain; prereq labels are sienna.

03 / Tracks

Five tracks for depth.
Four PEs each.

Each student picks one track at the start of Year 2 and takes four professional electives from it. The tracks reuse the BCA specialization model, with redundant courses removed where MCA core already provides the foundation. Every PE is 3 credits, 4 contact hours, delivered with a 2:0:2:0 LTPS split.

Why “5 tracks, 4 PEs each”?

With 4 PE slots per student and 5 stream choices, the program offers 20 distinct PEs in the catalog while keeping student commitment focused. Tracks are reused from the BCA design with deliberate pruning: BCA's Smart Contract Development PE was dropped (already a core in MCA), and DeFi was redesigned to go deeper than the BCA equivalent. Every PE has a single core prerequisite from Year 1, ensuring all tracks open cleanly in T4 / S2.

04 / PBL Mode

Six trimesters.
Project-based learning.

Trimester mode runs four courses per term at 32–34 CH/wk; T5 and T6 expand to 5 items (4 standard + Capstone) and rise to 36 CH/wk, which is the program-wide ceiling per institutional norms. Standard 3-cr courses run at CH=8 in T1–T4 and at CH=7 in T5/T6 to make room for the 8 CH capstone.

08 / Certifications

Global vendor certifications,
aligned to every course.

The Skill Development Centre mandates a stringent L0–L3 certification pathway with parallel Advanced and Regular tracks across all five MCA specializations. Every graduate completes 3 universal foundation certifications plus 4 track-specific certifications (one per level). Only paid, proctored, globally-recognised vendor credentials count toward SDC credit. MOOC course-completion certificates do not.

8.1 / Framework

Four levels. Two tracks. Same target outcome.

Each MCA student progresses through four certification levels matched to the two-year program spine. Advanced track targets premium placements (₹15–30+ LPA); Regular track targets stable industry placements (₹8–15 LPA). The track choice is recorded at the start of Year 1 and reviewed each trimester.

✓ Accepted as formal SDC credit

Only paid, proctored, globally-recognised vendor certifications issued directly by the primary technology vendor: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Cisco, CompTIA, Oracle, Red Hat, NVIDIA DLI paid tracks, MongoDB University paid exams, Databricks, EC-Council, Offensive Security, HashiCorp, CNCF, Linux Foundation paid exams, ConsenSys.

✗ Excluded from formal SDC credit

MOOC-platform-issued certificates (Coursera specialisations, edX MicroMasters, Udemy, Udacity nanodegrees, Great Learning, Simplilearn, LinkedIn Learning), online completion badges, and free foundation badges (AZ-900, AWS introductory) count only as prerequisite study material, not formal credit.

8.2 / Universal Foundations

Three certifications every MCA graduate completes.

Independent of specialisation track. These three certifications certify the universal Year 1 capabilities of every MCA graduate — Python programming, full-stack database fluency, and cloud platform literacy.

8.3 / Track Ladders

Five specialisation ladders — L0 to L3, Advanced & Regular.

Each MCA student picks one of five specialisation tracks at the start of Year 2 and completes four certifications from the chosen ladder — one per level. The Advanced ladder targets premium placements; the Regular ladder targets stable industry placements. Course mappings on the right show which MCA courses prepare for each cert.

Reverse view: which courses prepare for which cert.

Reverse mapping showing each certification (grouped by issuing vendor) with the MCA courses that prepare a student to sit for it. A direct fit means the course curriculum substantially covers the cert blueprint; partial means additional self-study is expected.

Per-graduate certification budget

Each MCA graduate completes 3 universal foundations + 4 track-specific certifications (L0–L3) — a total of 7 globally-recognised vendor credentials across the two-year program. Estimated total cost: $700–$2,500 per student (₹58K–₹2.1L) depending on Advanced vs Regular track choice. Industry-sponsored voucher partnerships with AWS, Microsoft, Databricks, NVIDIA Inception, and Linux Foundation target ≥ 40% subsidy on cohort fees.
